Profile of Hefei No. 2 High School

Hefei No. 2 High School, also entitled as Hefei Foreign Language School, is a municipal model high school, featured with foreign language education and arts education. It is located on one of the most beautiful landscape roads in Hefei --- Huangshan Road. It has the biggest scenic campus in the downtown area and enjoys convenient transportation.

Hefei No. 2 High School was founded in 1952, first as “Science and Technology School of Anhui Province”, then as “Experimental School Affiliated to Hefei Normal University. In 1970, it got the present name.

Cultivating the perfect personality is the school philosophy and the students are fostered to have not only special talents but also all-round comprehensive qualities. Students are required to be “active in thinking, disciplined in behavior, ambitious and innovative”. "Student-oriented development" is practiced as the guiding ideology of education and the teaching mode.

   Our school considers constant educational research as a priority, teaching quality as the soul of the school and characteristic education as the strategy of school’s development. Great importance is attached to the teachers’ ethical and professional development. As a result, a staff team with dedication to the education research and loyalty to the profession has been formed.

As a foreign language school, Hefei No. 2 High School aims at “prominence in foreign language, equal emphasis on science and liberal arts, the comprehensive development, and international talents of all students". The national new curriculum standards, school-based curriculum development, the optional courses, and the credit system are properly implemented in our school. Oral English classes are offered by teachers from the USA or the UK. Different programs have been organized to broaden the students’ horizons, such as SAT class and TOEFL class. Rich and colorful school cultural activities have formed a lively and distinct feature of the cultural atmosphere on campus for students to grow as a person with high moral character and broader point of view.

Hefei No. 2 High School enjoys good popularity and reputation. Many administrators and experts graduated from our school. In recent years, the graduates have made remarkable achievements in the University Entrance Examinations. In 2007, our school got the first prize and in 2008, the second prize in our city. Several students have been admitted by American universities with full scholarship. In addition, Hefei No. 2 High School has won many honors awarded by Anhui provincial government for its excellent performance in education.

Friendly and cooperative relationships have been established with some schools in USA, UK, Canada, South Korea and some other countries.  Furthermore, the school’s frequent and regular foreign exchanges have opened a window to the outside world. Teachers and students can work or study abroad through different programs every year.
